Shakira turns the success of “Dai Dai” into hope for thousands of children
The Colombian singer reaffirmed her social commitment to donate the profits from the official theme of the World Cup to an educational fund
The singer Shakira continues to surprise the public with every professional adventure in which she embarks. After a successful performance in Copacabana for more than two million per sonas, confirmed his participation in the 2026 World Cup not only as headliner of his first halftime show in the final, but as interpreter of the official theme, titled “Dai Dai”.
However, the Colombian woman revealed that her way of celebrating this shower of blessings is by providing support to a social cause that touches her heart: education to the most needy children.
At a press conference on the first halftime show of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, Shakira announced that 100% of gen's revenues erated by the song “Dai Dai” will go to the Education Fund programme, promoted by the FIFA Foundation and the Global Citizen organization.
And, according to the artist's statements, the message that she seeks to transmit through her lyrics and melody is one of hope for millions of children around the world.
“I think this song is much more than a World Cup song. It's a message for every child I've ever told "that his dream was nonsense", said Shakira during the event headlined by FIFA president, Gianni Infantino.
The Grammy winner added that great soccer stars like Pelé, Ronaldo Nazário and Lionel Messi have their own success stories that at the beginning seemed impossible.
In this sense, he explained that education is the best tool to achieve a positive impact changes the lives of children and even entire communities s: “I have seen with my own eyes how education transforms lives. It is something very tangible, you can really see the change”, he stressed in the conference.
As a faithful believer in this cause, Shakira detailed that the money raised will be used to support educational programs and generate learning opportunities for children from vulnerable communities in different parts of the world.
Shakira will make history in the first halftime show of the World Cup
Shakira's role in the 2026 FIFA World Cup goes beyond performing the official song of the tournament, since the 49 year-old famous will also be one of the protagonists of the first halftime show in the world final scheduled for July 19,2026 at the MetLife Stadium.
FIFA confirmed that Shakira will share the stage with Madonna and the South Korean group BTS in a show produced by Global Citizen and directed by Chris Martin, vocalist of Coldplay who helped select the artists for the event.
In the announcement it was confirmed that the incorporation of the halftime show is not only aimed to liven up the last big game of the World Cup, but also to have a positive social impact.
“Curated by Chris Martin of Coldplay and produced by Global Citizen, the show will raise funds for the Gl Education Fund obal Citizen from FIFA, improving access to quality education and football for children around the world,” was said in the talk.
