The premiere of Rob Reiner's last film was suspended
Distributor Bleecker Street indefinitely halted the release of Spinal Tap at Stonehenge, sequel to the legendary mockumentary
Following the tragic and violent deaths of Rob Reiner and his wife, Michele Singer, distributor Bleecker Street announced the indefinite suspension of the release of his last film: Spinal Tap at Stonehenge: The Final Finale.
The film, which served as a direct sequel to the 1984 cult classic, was scheduled for release in theaters and IMAX theaters for 2026. However, the tragic events that occurred on December 14 at the couple's residence in Brentwood, California, forced the project to be put on hold. According to sources at the distributor, the decision was made to respect the grieving process and, together with family members and close collaborators, to find the "best way forward" to honor the director's legacy. Spinal Tap at Stonehenge was no ordinary project. The film documents a historic concert held in October at Stonehenge, UK, and featured artists such as Eric Clapton, Shania Twain, and Josh Groban. It also marked the reunion of the original cast: Christopher Guest, Michael McKean, and Harry Shearer. The tragedy takes an even darker turn following the arrest of Nick Reiner, the couple's son, who remains in police custody accused of double homicide. While the investigation continues, the future of other projects Reiner had in development, such as a new version of the Fawlty Towers series, remains uncertain. For years, Nick Reiner has struggled with addiction and mental health issues, having been in and out of 18 rehabilitation centers.
