The effect of flood in the district has started decreasing gradually. Along with this, there is also a possibility of increase in water-borne and infectious diseases in the flood-affected areas. Many people are reported to be suffering from diseases like flu, diarrhoea, skin diseases, jaundice, typhoid, malaria, pneumonia and chamki in the flooded areas. At the same time, many people who came out of the village after saving their lives from the floods have also been injured.

The District Health Committee has started operating the District Control Room to provide emergency health facilities to the flood victims. The control room number is 06412421074. Dr Shams, the nodal officer of the control room, said that on the instructions of Civil Surgeon Dr Umesh Sharma, Sadar Hospital and Mayaganj Hospital have been put on alert. Ambulances, medicines, ORS, halogen tablets to purify water, bleaching powder and snack venom have been arranged in all CHCs of the district including control rooms. A roster of medical staff including doctors and ANMs has been issued in three shifts at every panchayat and block level.

On Monday, the doctors treating in the OPD of Mayaganj and Sadar Hospital confirmed this. Doctors told that for the past one week people from flood-ravaged villages are coming for treatment of these diseases. Dr Ashish Ranjan of Sadar Hospital said that the patients of allergy and skin diseases have started increasing. Patients are mostly being given metronidazole for diarrhea, muconazole for skin diseases, levo cetirizine and paracetamol for cold and fever. In the coming days, due to water logging, the number of mosquito-borne diseases malaria and dengue patients may also increase. Due to the changing weather, the number of sick people will increase further. Heat in the day and moisture in the night will have an adverse effect on the body.
