Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has said that people affected by the rains in the state would be compensated every paisa for the loss. In a statement issued on Wednesday, the Chief Minister said that he is constantly monitoring the situation and is also taking regular reports from across the state. The ongoing relief operations in the districts and the water level are being monitored across the state.

It is the duty of the state government to help the people in this hour of difficulty and no stone will be left unturned to fulfill this task. The Chief Minister said that relief would be provided to the far flung areas of the state. Special attention is being given to provide relief to the most affected areas of the state so that people do not face any kind of hardship. The Chief Minister said that all the dams in the state were safe and the water was flowing below the danger mark. He expressed hope that the situation in the state would improve by Wednesday evening.

Bhagwant Mann said that all cabinet ministers, MLAs and officers are already posted in their respective work areas and the needy are being reached out in this hour of crisis. Keeping in view the water level, elaborate machinery arrangements have been made to protect the life and property of the people.

Punjab Revenue, Rehabilitation and Disaster Management Minister Brahm Shankar Zimpa reviewed the situation in flood affected areas. He said that the Chief Minister of Punjab has already released an amount of Rs 33.50 crore to provide aid and relief in the flood affected areas and an amount of Rs 71 crore will be released today. With this, the Deputy Commissioner will be able to spend immediately in case of emergency.

He said that action would be taken after receiving the report of the Punjab government on the financial loss caused by the flood and financial assistance of Rs 4 lakh would be given by the department to the heirs of the deceased families. He said that Kajauli headworks is our big project, from where drinking water is supplied to Mohali, Chandigarh and Gamada.

He said that the Kajauli headworks were also under threat due to heavy inflow of water from Sutlej and Siswan dams. In this regard, the Chief Minister has controlled the situation by visiting. Earlier, he had visited the damage caused due to dam breach in Basant Nagar. He took stock of the damage caused on Chamkaur Sahib Road in Bande Mahalan. Minister Zimpa said that the Punjab government led by Bhagwant Mann stood firmly with the people in this difficult hour and would extend all possible help to the people of the flood-affected areas.
