Delhi Traffic Jam: People in Delhi may have to face traffic jams due to restrictions announced on Tuesday in view of 90th Annual General Meeting of International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol) at Pragati Maidan. This meeting is being held in India after a gap of about 25 years. It was last organized in the country in 1997. Delegations from a total of 195 countries will participate in the four-day general meeting. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the Mahasabha on Tuesday.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah will address the closing ceremony on Friday. The Delhi Traffic Police said in an advisory that the delegates attending the Mahasabha are staying at seven hotels - The Lalit, The Imperial, Shangri La, Le Meridien, The Oberoi, Hyatt Regency and The Ashoka and their Pragati Maidan, Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium. and expect to travel to the airport. It has been said in the advisory that various traffic measures have been taken to ensure smooth passage during the visit of the delegates.

As per the advisory, there is no movement of vehicles on Ashoka Road, Janpath, Feroz Shah Road, Barakhamba Road, Sikandra Road, Mathura Road, Bhairon Road, Subramaniam Bharti Marg, Dr Zakir Hussain Marg, Rajesh Pilot Marg, Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Marg, Kamal Ataturk Marg. The number will be reduced. Apart from this, traffic will also be regulated on Panchsheel Marg, Shantipath, Mahatma Gandhi Marg, Maharishi Raman Marg, Bhishma Pitamah Marg, Sardar Patel Marg, Dhaula Kuan Flyover, Gurgaon Road, Mehram Nagar Tunnel, Aerocity and T3 Approach Road. In view of the expected increase in the number of vehicles in Lutyens' Delhi, the traffic police had advised the institutions in the said area to allow their employees to work from home or to fix alternate hours for four days.

The traffic police said that commuters going towards New Delhi may face traffic jams. People are advised to travel by alternate routes during the specified period.
