An encounter between security forces and terrorists is going on in Kandi area of district Rajouri of Jammu division on Friday and firing is being done from both the sides. Regarding this incident, the army issued a statement saying that two soldiers have been martyred during the encounter. Whereas, four including an officer are injured. Terrorists are also likely to be killed. At the same time, the injured soldiers have been taken to Command Hospital Udhampur. Three of these jawans have died during treatment. Keeping the security in mind, internet services have been closed for the time being.

An official said that a joint team of police, army and CRPF launched the search operation on specific information about the presence of terrorists in the area. During this, as soon as the joint teams reached the suspected spot, the hiding terrorists opened fire on them, retaliating and the encounter started.

The terrorists detonated an explosive device in which two jawans were martyred and four including an officer were injured. Additional teams from nearby areas have been dispatched to the encounter site. According to initial reports, a group of terrorists is surrounded in the area. The encounter is still going on.

A massive search operation is being carried out by the security forces in both the districts since the recent terrorist attack on a military vehicle in Poonch's Bhataduriyan area and the terrorist attack in Rajori's Dhangari on January 1 this year.

According to sources, four to six terrorists were reported to be actively moving in the dense forests of Thannamandi and Darhal tehsils of Rajouri district. Four to six terrorists are estimated to be in Pangai, Appar Pangai, DKG, Upper Shahdara, Top Shahdara and Khodinar, Budh Khanari, Pargal forest areas of Darhal in Thannamandi tehsil of the district. A massive search operation has been launched to nab them.

Two local terrorists belonging to terrorist organization Lashkar-e-Taiba were killed in an encounter between terrorists and security forces at Vanigam Payeen village in Kreeri area of Baramulla district on Thursday. Both the terrorists had joined militancy in the month of March. Earlier on Wednesday, the security forces got a big success in the Machhil sector adjacent to the LoC in Kupwara district. During this, two intruders were killed.
