One person died and more than 14 were injured in the incident. The injured have been admitted to the local hospital. The rescue operation is still going on. The court of Special Judge Amit M Shete convicted both the accused under the Maharashtra Control of Organized Crime Act (MCOCA) and relevant provisions of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) on December 27. The court sentenced both the convicts to 10-10 years imprisonment and also imposed a fine of Rs 10.15 lakh on each. Both the accused, who worked as driver and conductor, are residents of Airoli in Navi Mumbai, while the third accused in the case is still absconding.
