In Australia, once again a case of threats to the Hindu temple has come to the fore. A Hindu temple in Melbourne has received threats to cancel religious programs or face consequences. According to a report in Australia Today, the priest of the Kali Mata temple in Craigieburn, a northern suburb of Melbourne, received a threatening phone call on Tuesday. According to the information received, the caller was talking in Punjabi.
Priest Bhavna told that he had received a call from no caller ID. He said that the person talking on the phone was talking in Punjabi spoken in Amritsar-Jalandhar. He threatened them to cancel a bhajan program by a singer on 4 March. He said that according to the threatening person, the singer who is coming to sing the bhajan is a staunch Hindu.
Bhavna told, the caller said, “Twanu pata hai woh banda hardcore Hindu hai, woh aaya to panga ho jana hai mandir te. (You know that person is a staunch Hindu, if he comes there will be a dispute in the temple.)”
Speaking to Australia Today, Bhavna said, “I pleaded with him and said, brother, this is the place of Maa Kali, even Guru Maharaj (Guru Gobind Singh) used to worship here. Why would anyone come here and fight?
Temples have been targeted in the past too
Hindu temples are being targeted in Australia recently by supporters of the Khalistani movement. In January this year, the Sri Shiva Vishnu Temple at Carrom Downs was vandalized during the Thai Pongal festival.
The Swaminarayan Temple in Melbourne, the historic Shri Shiv Vishnu Temple at Carrom Downs in Victoria and the ISKCON Temple in Melbourne were painted by anti-social elements glorifying anti-India terrorists.
The Indian High Commission had strongly condemned and objected to this incident.
