Trump affirms that the United States has attacked three nuclear facilities in Iran
President Trump said the U.S. has carried out three attacks on nuclear sites in Iran and has entered Israel’s war against that country.
The attacks targeted the nuclear facilities at Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan, Trump said in a post on Truth Social.
“All aircraft are now out of Iranian airspace. A full bomb load was dropped on the primary site, Fordow. All aircraft are now safely home,” President Trump said.
The US decision against Iran could trigger a broader regional conflict.
The decision to directly involve the United States in the conflict between Israel and Iran comes after more than a week of Israeli strikes against Iran, which have sought to systematically eradicate the country’s air defenses and offensive missile capabilities and damage its nuclear enrichment facilities.
Trump said B-2 stealth bombers were used, but did not specify what type of bombs were dropped. The White House and the Pentagon gave no immediate details about the operation.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump described the operation as “very successful” and a “historic moment” for the world. Iran must now agree to end the war, Trump said.
Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei warned the United States on Wednesday that attacks on the Islamic Republic will cause irreparable damage.
Wider Conflict
Houthi rebels in Yemen, backed by Iran, have said they would resume attacks on U.S. vessels in the Red Sea if the Trump administration joins Israel’s military campaign. The Houthis suspended such attacks in May under an agreement with the United States.
