Donald Trump ensures being very disappointed with Putin
The US president expressed his frustration with the Russian resistance to reaching a peace agreement on Ukraine
US President Donald Trump said in a radio interview on Tuesday that he was “very disappointed” by his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin,’s reluctance to reach a peace deal on Ukraine following their summit in Alaska.
“I’m very disappointed in President Putin, I can say that,” Trump said on Scott Jennings’ radio show when asked if he felt betrayed by Putin’s response. “We had a great relationship, I’m very disappointed.”
Trump, however, did not say what potential consequences Russia would face, despite recently setting a two-week deadline for a peace deal that expires at the end of this week.
The US leader added that he was not worried about a potential Russia-China pivot, even though Putin met with Chinese President Xi Jinping in Beijing on Tuesday ahead of a major military parade.
“I’m not worried at all,” Trump said. "We have by far the strongest military in the world, and they would never use it against us; believe me, that would be the worst thing they could do," he said.
