Governor Newsom asks Trump to keep his promise to Los Angeles after fires
Newsom said Trump made a promise to help Los Angeles recover from the January fires; the governor is in Washington to ask for support
California Governor Gavin Newsom asked President Donald Trump to keep his promise made in January to help Los Angeles recover after the devastating wildfires.
Newsom urged Trump to send a formal request to Congress to fund federal recovery programs in support of the affected areas devastated by the Eaton and Palisades fires, which burned thousands of acres in the Los Angeles metropolitan area. In a statement, Newsom said that in January, at Los Angeles International Airport, Trump promised him and the residents of Los Angeles that he would support the rebuilding and recovery efforts after the fires.
