JoAnna Mendoza raises more than $2.3 million as a candidate for Arizona Congress
With a multimillion-dollar fundraising haul, Democrat JoAnna Mendoza's campaign is starting to take off in the race for Arizona's 6th U.S. Congressional District
As her campaign for Congress progresses, Democrat JoAnna Mendoza is strengthening her connection with her community and with donors interested in reversing several policy decisions that have affected a broad sector of people in Arizona's 6th U.S. Congressional District Arizona.
This is how she managed to raise more than $2.3 million during the first quarter of the year, a significant achievement for a first-time congressional candidate.
This coincides with her campaign's inclusion in the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee's (DCCC) "Red to Blue" program, which recognizes outstanding campaigns.
In a statement, the retired Marine Corps instructor acknowledges that part of her candidacy's success is due to the empathy of her proposals with people's needs.
"This campaign is driven by people who are fed up with traditional politics. I have dedicated my life to serving this country, and I am running because the people of Arizona deserve a representative who is present, tells the truth, and fights for them," she stated.
In contrast, the performance of Republican Juan Ciscomani, who has represented District 06 since 2023, is highly criticized for having aligned his administration to the policies of the current federal administration, relegating to the background the needs of the community members who, at the time, supported him with their vote.
JoAnna Mendoza and her family managed to get ahead thanks to the benefits provided by programs such as SNAP, food stamps, and Medicaid, and for this reason, she supports continuing to provide them to people.
In complete contrast, Ciscomani has done everything necessary to eliminate assistance programs, placing hundreds of families in a difficult situation whose income from work or retirement is insufficient to cover even basic needs, such as food.
“While families in southern Arizona struggle to make ends meet, Juan Ciscomani has voted to dismantle healthcare, supported irresponsible tariffs that drive up costs, and refuses to stand up for the families he is supposed to represent,” she stated.
Another point in favor of the military veteran, who is also a single mother and public policy expert, is the large number of veterans residing in the disputed area, who find it more agreeable to feel represented by a former member of the armed forces than by a civilian.
