Secretary of State Marco Rubio states that, to stabilize Venezuela and achieve its economic recovery after overthrowing the Nicolas Maduro regime, three phases implemented by the US government are required.
From the perspective of the official of Cuban descent, Washington has already completed the first phase stage of the project, which consisted of appointing Delcy Rodriguez as interim president.
“As part of this process, the first phase, of course, is the phase we are in now, a stabilization phase,” he stated during a meeting with representatives of multinational oil companies interested in investing in the energy sector of the Bolivarian Republic.
The conservative official emphasized that President Donald Trump's commitment is to ensure that Venezuelans emerge from the economic crisis they have experienced for years.
“The second will be a recovery phase, and then will come the final phase, which consists of having a normal economy again, where money benefits the people, not our adversaries or elements in that country and around the world who are against our interests.
Venezuela will be a rich country, a prosperous nation for its people, not for a handful of criminals, and also a country that supports our interests in the region and around the world.”
However, Rubio stressed that to reach that level, it is essential to achieve a process of reconciliation between the citizens and those who will govern them in the coming years.
“An internal reconciliation process must take place among the different sectors of society, politics, and others.
The final phase will be the most important, because that is when the nation is completely transformed into a normal country, with whom we have solid and friendly economic and diplomatic relations, one that is not a base for our adversaries, that serves our interests, but also the interests of its people,” he pointed out.
Nevertheless,Trump himself has indicated that the United States' work monitoring Venezuela could take years and even rules out the possibility of holding presidential elections in the near future. Another controversial point regarding the future of Venezuelans is that the US president has ruled out the main opposition leaders to Maduro from leading the necessary transition in the South American country.
