Actor Richard Gere described President Donald Trump as a being with a “damaged personality” derived from a “horrible childhood” that is projected into his way of governing the country.

During a press conference where he promotes the Paramount series “The Agency,” the Philadelphia actor attacked the nation's leader, calling him a destructive political figure.

"He is a problematic person who has caused a lot of destruction; he has caused many deaths, but all of this will end. He is an older man, he has a damaged personality. It is evident that he must have had a terrible childhood to be the man he is now," he said.

Although Gere's accusations are disturbing for the White House, it is not the first time it has paraded the 80-year-old Republican.

Participating as a special guest at the Oslo Freedom Forum, held last month in Norway, the iconic Hollywood personality gave a speech where he labeled Trump a “thug”, “bully” and “maniac”, all due to his policies implemented by his government.

The fact that it has polarized citizens between those who support deporting immigrants lacking legal status and those committed to supporting their stay in the United States reflects the complex moment the nation is going through.

Like Richard Gere, there are more actors turned against the New York magnate, such as Robert De Niro, who has even participated in marches demanding accountability from the government for the terror unleashed in the streets by mounting immigration detention operations

"I never wanted anything to do with him. He's an idiot. He's an idiot. Who wants to meet a clown like that? We need someone with the right intentions; This guy doesn't have them and everyone knows it. It's crazy. Period," he stressed on the television show "Who's Talking to Chris Wallace?"

The fact that there are at least two American film celebrities publicly declaring their antipathy for whoever governs the country could be the tip of the spear so that more emerge towards the midterm elections, complicating the path for the Republicans in their fight to retain control of the House of Representatives and the Senate.
