Sheinbaum confirms private meetings with Trump and Carney prior to the FIFA draw
The Mexican president announced that she will travel this afternoon to Washington DC on a plane from the Ministry of National Defense to attend the FIFA draw
“We are going to have a short meeting with President Trump, and another with the Prime Minister (Mark) Carney,” she stated.
From her press conference at the National Palace, Sheinbaum Pardo said that she will travel this Thursday afternoon to Washington, DC to attend the FIFA draw that will take place tomorrow, Friday.
“We are leaving this afternoon/evening for Washington. I am announcing it now. We will be using a plane from the Ministry of National Defense because the round-trip travel time no longer allowed us the option,” she specified.
The Mexican president previewed her participation in the FIFA draw, which will begin at 12:00 pm local time at The Kennedy Center, the national cultural center of the United States.
“Then, the event, which lasts about four minutes, involves drawing the ball and seeing which group we, as Mexico, will be in. And then we go to our seats, and that's where the World Cup groups are formed. That's where the event ends,” she mentioned.
Sheinbaum also announced that, after his participation in the lottery, he will have a meeting with Mexicans living in the United States and, on Friday night, he will return to Mexico City to lead the celebration on Saturday of the anniversary of the start of the National Regeneration Movement (Morena) government, in the Zocalo.
