Supreme Court authorizes new California congressional districts
The judges authorized the congressional districts, approved in the November 2025 election; they can be used in this year's election process
The U.S. Supreme Court on Wednesday authorized the new California congressional district maps, approved by state voters under Proposition 50 during the November 2025 special election.
The Supreme Court's verdict favored Democrats, rejecting a petition from the Democratic Party California Republicans and the Trump administration to reject them.
Previously, judges allowed the new Republican-friendly Texas electoral districts to be used in this year's elections, which California will also be able to do in the midterm elections.
