Badminton World Championship: Sindhu and Satwik-Chirag pair get first round bye in World Championship
16th seed Sindhu will open her campaign in the second round where she will face either Japan's Nozomi Okuhara or Vietnam's Thuy Linh Nguyen.

India's veteran shuttler PV Sindhu has been given a bye in the first round of the Badminton World Championships, while Kidambi Srikanth will open his campaign against Japan's Kenta Nishimoto. Second seeds and last edition's bronze medalists Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty have also got byes. The world number two men's doubles pair will face either Ireland's Joshua Magee-Paul Reynolds or Australia's Kenneth Zhe Hui Chu-Ming Chuen Lim in the second round.
The Badminton World Federation (BWF) confirmed this after the draw was held on Thursday. A total of 16 Indian shuttlers were part of the draw, out of which four will compete in the singles events. Only the pair of HS Prannoy and Satwiksairaj Rankireddy-Chirag Shetty have been seeded in the top 10. 16th seed Sindhu will open her campaign in the second round where she will face either Japan's Nozomi Okuhara or Vietnam's Thuy Linh Nguyen. India's star trio of HS Prannoy, Lakshya Sen and Kidambi Srikanth will represent the country in the men's singles. In the first round, ninth seed Prannoy will take on Kale Koljonen of Finland, while 11th seed Lakshya will take on Georges Julien Paul of Mauritius.
