Beterbiev coach on Bivol: He disappeared completely
Mark Ramsey commented that both Riyadh Season and the Russians offered to hold the duel, but it did not materialize because Bivol simply did not want to
Mark Ramsey, Artur Beterbiev's coach, stated that Dmitry Bivol completely disappeared from the negotiations for the trilogy for the light heavyweight titles and that's why they made the decision to move forward.
In an interview with Secondsout, Ramsey commented that both Riyadh Season and the Russians offered to make the fight happen, but it fell through because Bivol simply didn't want to.
"We tried to negotiate a fight with Bivol for months, and he just disappeared. At one point, Riyadh Season wanted to put that fight together, and at another point, there were people in Russia who wanted to put it together in Moscow. They (the Russians) put a lot of money on the table, more than he (Bivol) deserved and more than he earned for the first and second fights in Saudi Arabia. Still, he refused. He completely disappeared from the negotiations. We decided to go ahead with Artur. He's 40 years old. We don't want to wait for anyone," he said. "He completely disappeared from the negotiations, and at one point, there were no calls or information whatsoever. So we decided to go another way. The way Team Bivol is acting right now, I have doubts. We want to get back in the ring soon. So we decided to go another way. Of course, he wants to fight Bivol for a third time, and he wants to do it now. He was ready to do it six years ago, in the first fight. Bivol waited and waited until Artur turned 40 before fighting him,” he added.
Remember that after the second fight, Dmitry Bivol relinquished his World Boxing Council (WBC) title to avoid the mandatory fight against David Benavidez and thus be able to fulfill the trilogy already agreed upon with Artur Beterbiev.
Since then, nothing has been heard about the third fight. For this reason, Artur Beterbiev got tired of waiting and scheduled a fight with Deon Nicholson on the card to be held on November 22 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Artur Beterbiev, from At 40 years old, he was stripped of the undisputed light heavyweight championship and lost his unbeaten record in the sport. The Russian now has a record of 21 wins,20 of them by knockout, and one loss as a professional.
For his part, Dmitry Bivol, 34, took revenge and snatched the undisputed 175-pound title from Beterbiev. The Russian has a record of 24 wins, 12 of them by knockout, and one loss.
