Pedro Neto, Andrey Santos and Enzo Maresca highlighted how difficult their challenge will be next Sunday in the Club World Cup final
Chelsea beat Fluminense 2-0 in the Club World Cup semi-final and advanced to the grand final against the winner of Wednesday's match between Real Madrid and PSG.
However, the Blues know that the most complex challenge is yet to come, and striker Pedro Neto, midfielder Andrey Santos, and coach Enzo Maresca all agreed that no matter which team wins, the test will be enormous.
“We know the experience that both teams have, so against whoever makes it to the final we will have to come out focused to win,” said Neto in the mixed zone after his team’s victory.
Neto, who was already crowned Conference League champion with Chelsea at the end of May, demonstrated the Blues’ ambition to go “for more” and added that they are “very happy to be in a final that we have had to fight for.”
For his part, Santos stated that they have no preference for an opponent for the final and that the only thing left for them is to work hard to make things work out for them.
“They are two great teams (PSG and Real Madrid). We are going to have to train hard to be able to win the final. I don’t know who will be better or worse, Paris or Real (Madrid). We just have to do our job,” he also assured in the mixed zone.
Finally, coach Enzo Maresca also highlighted the demands of his next match, but said that until then he will enjoy the semi-final between Real Madrid and PSG, because it will be a high-level duel.
“I think they are two spectacular rivals. It will be a pleasure to watch their match,” he said in a press conference.
“Xabi Alonso has just arrived but you can clearly see what he is looking for. One team has just won the Champions League (PSG) and the other won it last year (Madrid). They are two teams that it doesn’t matter which one we are going to face because it will be a very difficult match, ”concluded.
