DoorDash integrates SNAP into thousands of Kroger stores for grocery delivery
DoorDash enabled the SNAP program on thousands of orders at Kroger, allowing recipients to buy groceries online until 2026
Social programs in the United States are very valuable to millions of households, however, digital access can become in a challenge. DoorDash saw this opportunity and just joined the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), popularly co known as food coupons, so recipients can buy thousands of groceries and approved products at Kroger stores . This measure becomes transcendental, as it expands the use of food benefits directly from digital delivery platforms.
DoorDash announced that it is implementing support for payments with the Electronic Benefits Card (EBT) and SNAP food assistance program nearby. e 2,700 Kroger stores, one of the largest supermarket chains in the country. With this, millions of beneficiaries will be able to buy groceries online and receive them at home.
The integration is not limited only to Kroger, but also to affiliated brands such as Mariano’s, Fred Meyer, Ralphs and Harris Teeter, among others. In these stores, the users from SNAP will be able to purchase essential products such as meat, fruits, vegetables, dairy, frozen foods and other basic items available on the DoorDash platform.
“Access to affordable food is critical,” said Mike Goldblatt, VP of Business Partnerships at DoorDash, in a statement. “This collaboration with Kroger represents an important step forward for access to SNAP across the country.”
With this expansion, DoorDash strengthens its role within the food delivery ecosystem, integrating social programs that were traditionally used only in physical stores.
As an incentive, the platform also announced benefits for new users using EBT. DoorDash offers delivery $0 dollars in l a first purchase made with this payment method in participating Kroger stores, promotion that will be available until June 15th.
This type of measures seeks to facilitate the transition towards purchasing food online, especially for families that depend on these benefits.
The expansion comes at a time when the use of these programs is already significant within the app. According to company data, for the fourth quarter of 2025 more than 57,000 stores already accepted SNAP and EBT on DoorDash, and about 4.5 million users had linked their benefits card to the platform.
A DoorDash report also revealed a relevant fact: SNAP users are twice more likely to live in areas with low availability of fresh food, known as “food deserts.”
For its part, the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) reported that in fiscal year 2025, more than 42.1 million people used SNAP each month, reflecting the importance of the program to the nation's food security.
