Club América faces a complicated scenario in the final stretch of the Clausura tournament after the injuries of two are confirmed of their key defenders: Sebastián Cáceres and Cristian Borja, after the intense 3-3 draw against Pumas UNAM in the quarterfinals.
Sebastián Cáceres: delicate diagnosis after strong blow
The azulcrema group confirmed through an official statement the health state of the Uruguayan defender, who suffered a direct impact on the face during the match.
“Club América reports that Sebastián Cáceres suffered a direct trauma to the face, which led to a concussion, fracture of the zygomatic arch and eye trauma. Our play r received the treatment indicated by doctors from three specialties who performed a comprehensive assessment. His recovery will be according to evolution,” the team reported.
The incident occurred in the second half of the match, when Cáceres received a blow to the right cheekbone which forced to activate the concussion protocol. Subsequently, he was removed from the field in the emergency cart.
The severity of the injury puts in doubt his participation in the remainder of the Closing, which represents a hard blow for America's defensive scheme.
