India defeated Ireland ( Ireland vs India , 1st T20I) by 7 wickets in the first T20I and took a 1-0 lead in the two-match series. Spinner Yuzvendra Chahal , who was the hero of India's victory, was adjudged man of the match. Chahal took 1 wicket for 11 runs in 3 overs.

Due to rain, the match between Ireland and India was reduced from 20-20 overs to 12-12 overs. In which India won the toss and invited Ireland to bat first. On the basis of the stormy half-century innings of Harry Tector, Ireland set a target of 109 runs for victory in front of India. Harry Tector scored an unbeaten 64 off 33 balls with the help of 6 fours and 3 sixes. Ireland team scored 108 runs in 12 overs for the loss of 4 wickets. In reply, the Indian team won the match by scoring 111 runs in 9.2 overs losing only 3 wickets. The opening pair performed brilliantly for India. Deepak Hooda scored an unbeaten 47 runs in 29 balls with the help of 6 fours and two sixes. While Ishan Kishan scored 26 runs in 11 balls with the help of 3 fours and two sixes. Captain Hardik Pandya scored 24 runs in 12 balls with the help of 1 four and 3 sixes. Dinesh Karthik returned unbeaten on 5 runs.

Yuzvendra Chahal performed brilliantly in bowling for India. He took 1 wicket giving only 11 runs in 3 overs. While Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Hardik Pandya and Avesh Khan also took one wicket each. Craig Young took two wickets for Ireland, while Joshua Little dismissed an Indian player.

Hardik Pandya made his captaincy debut in international cricket with a win. Due to the England tour, Pandya has been made the new captain of the Indian team. Pandya also made Gujarat Titans champion in IPL 2022 under his captaincy. Now he has a chance to make a clean sweep of Ireland in his own soil and wow the captaincy.

The second and last T20 match between India and Ireland is to be played in Dublin on 28 June. India will try to win the last match and end their campaign with a clean sweep. NCA head former Indian cricketer VVS Laxman has been made the head coach for this tour.
