Julio Urias will be eligible to listen to offers from MLB teams
Julio Urias will be eligible to return to the Major Leagues starting Thursday after a suspension for domestic violence
Julio Urias, former Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher, will be eligible to listen to any offer that would allow him to return to the Major Leagues after the sanction imposed on him by the Baseball Commissioner's office for domestic violence is fulfilled this Wednesday.
Urias will serve this Wednesday the half-season suspension that was imposed on him and on Thursday he will be officially removed from the list of players restricted from playing in MLB, after said sanction was imposed on him as a result of the attacks he inflicted on his partner and that captured the attention of the sport.
Urias, who first saw the light 27 years ago in the state of Sinaloa, Mexico, has the opportunity to seek a second chance in the best baseball in the world to demonstrate once again what he was like who became one of the Los Angeles Dodgers' strongest arms.
As you may recall, Julio Urias was suspended without pay after his arrest in Los Angeles in September 2023, which would make him the first player to be sanctioned twice under MLB's joint domestic violence and sexual assault policy. His repeat offenses sparked a great deal of controversy, and the commissioner's office did not hesitate to abruptly cut off his employment relationship with the aforementioned Mexican athlete.
The work of his agent
For now, the work of his representative, the highly-rated sports agent Scott Boras, will be very important in finding a place in one of the major league teams and for the moment he has mentioned the intentions of the Mexican left-handed pitcher to play again.
He still has every intention of continuing his career, Boras told the Los Angeles Times, adding: He's getting in shape. Obviously, he'll have options at his disposal, said the sports promoter, who explained that his client's conditions are intact.
Reopening the doors to the Big Top
Despite the serious background he was involved in, there is no doubt that his talent on the mound could open the doors to an organization willing to offer him a second chance.
In his last full season, in 2022, he led the National League in ERA (2.16) and was considered one of the best starters in the circuit, but his future at the moment is uncertain, especially because we will have to wait and see what condition he returns in and which team gives him back the option of standing on a Major League mound.
