Andres Iniesta's company denounced in Peru for alleged fraud
The Peruvian Prosecutor's Office is investigating Never Say Never, a company linked to the former Spanish footballer
The name of Andres Iniesta, one of the most beloved and successful footballers in the world, has become embroiled in a legal controversy in Peru. His company, Never Say Never (NSN), dedicated to organizing sporting and entertainment events, is facing a lawsuit for alleged fraud filed by Peruvian businessmen, which led the Lima Prosecutor's Office to open a formal investigation. According to judicial sources cited by the EFE news agency, the case is being handled by the First Office of the Provincial Corporate Criminal Prosecutor's Office of San Isidro-Lince, in the Peruvian capital. Accusations of breach of contract and millions in losses: The lawsuit was filed by the company Gucho Entertainment along with a group of local businessmen. They claim to have invested $600,000 in NSN for the organization of several sporting and musical events in Peru, many of which never took place. According to the newspaper Libero, the events included a friendly match between Cienciano (Peru) and El Nacional (Ecuador), another between legends of Peru and Spain, as well as a K-pop festival that was also canceled. Although some matches did take place—such as the friendly between Sporting Cristal and Barcelona of Ecuador, played in Miami in December 2023—the overall result was a loss for the organizers. NSN South America's subsidiary was declared bankrupt just a few months later, in June 2024, less than a year after starting operations in the country. The complainants state that they decided to invest in the company motivated by the image of Andres Iniesta, who is listed as a co-founder of NSN and is remembered worldwide for his goal in the 2010 South Africa World Cup final. Iniesta and NSN deny the allegations. After the news broke, NSN and Iniesta themselves released a statement rejecting the accusations and asserting that it is all an attempt to damage their reputation. "We categorically deny the accusations published in recent hours," they stated. “We regret that this information was published maliciously with the aim of exploiting the image of a public figure.” The company also expressed its confidence that “the Peruvian justice system will clarify this situation very soon” and warned that it reserves the right to take legal action in defense of its work and its honor. NSN describes itself as “a team specializing in sports and entertainment co-founded by world champion Andres Iniesta,” whose purpose is to offer “an integrated service that authentically connects brands and audiences.”
