Cristiano Ronaldo spoke about retirement less than a year before the World Cup
CR7 acknowledges that the end of his career is near, but he's not worried about the time. Cristiano Ronaldo enjoys playing at 40
Cristiano Ronaldo is on the verge of playing in his sixth World Cup. CR7 will be 41 years old when the 2026 World Cup takes place. The Al Nassr striker isn't worried about hanging up his boots. Ronaldo believes that's a long way off.
The former Real Madrid striker was asked about his future in football. CR7 is 40 years old, but he remains a regular in the Portuguese national team. Despite this, Ronaldo believes his last World Cup will be in 2026.
“Sure, it's true because I'll be 41, and I think in this great competition, I don't know… As I said, I'm enjoying this moment,” said Cristiano Ronaldo in an interview at the Tourise tourism forum in Saudi Arabia.
However, CR7 hinted that his retirement from the World Cup doesn't reflect his performances at club level. Cristiano Ronaldo extended the timeframe for his already anticipated retirement.
“This (in ten years) means soon for me. People think that when I talk about retiring soon, it means in six months or a year. I'm just kidding!” added the Portuguese striker.
With goals for Al Nassr
At 40 years old, Cristiano Ronaldo continues to maintain a devastating pace in Saudi Arabian football. This season, CR7 has 10 goals and 2 assists in 11 matches. Since arriving in Saudi Arabia, the Portuguese striker has scored 103 goals and provided 28 assists in 134 matches. “In football, I try to enjoy the goals. As you know, I'm 40 years old, and I try to enjoy the moment and keep going. My body is in good shape, I think. As for my performance with the national team, I score goals and help the team. I want to win titles. This is my life,” he added. To date, Cristiano Ronaldo has 953 official goals. The countdown being followed by all sports media outlets has set the target of 1,000 goals for CR7. This goal could be reached at the 2026 World Cup with the Portuguese national team. A fitting end to an impeccable career.
