David Benavidez acknowledged that Anthony Yarde is a dangerous fighter and that is why he will not underestimate him when they face each other on November 22, in Saudi Arabia, for the World Boxing Council (WBC) 175-pound title.
In an interview with 411 Experience, Benavidez explained that Yarde He's going into the fight hungry because he wants to finally win the world championship on his third attempt.
“This is his third attempt at a title. He's a man who's between a rock and a hard place. He's a dangerous man. I like to face someone who has nothing to lose. I hope he's completely confident in his health, because if not, it'll be a problem. It'll be a problem for him even if he's completely confident,” he said.
According to experts, the British boxer is one of the most dangerous challengers David Benavidez will face at 175 pounds due to his power. Despite this, the Mexican-American remains the favorite to take the win.
Let's remember that after Dmitry Bivol decided to vacate his WBC belt, the Mexican-American became the absolute champion of the category and expressed his interest in fighting Callum Smith or Anthony Yarde.
In the end, it was Yarde who got the challenger spot and this will be his third opportunity to try to become world champion. The Mexican Monster, on the other hand, will be making his first title defense after dominating David Morrell Jr. in his last appearance in the ring last February.
David Benavidez, 29, conquered the WBA regular 175-pound belt from David Morrell after defeating him on the judges' scorecards. The Mexican Monster has a record of 30 wins, 24 of them by knockout, and no losses in his professional career.
Meanwhile, Anthony Yarde, 33, is coming off a victory over Lyndor Arthur last April and could now become the WBC light heavyweight champion. The English fighter has 27 wins (24 by knockout) and three losses.
