Drake bets USD 300,000 on Jannik Sinner to win the US Open
The rapper puts money on tennis again as the Italian sweeps New York

Drake is once again turning heads outside of music. This time, the Canadian rapper bet $300,000 that Jannik Sinner will win the US Open. If the world number one lives up to expectations and lifts the trophy in New York, the bet will pay Drake $507,000.
The ticket, shared by the artist himself on his social media, joins a long list of sports bets that have made him famous for both the risky sums and the so-called "Drake Curse," a term coined for the numerous failures of his favorites.
This isn't the first time the Canadian has put money on tennis. In 2024, he lost $210,000 when he believed Taylor Fritz would beat Sinner in the US Open final. In total, he has accumulated six-figure losses in this sport, although he managed to salvage some in January when he successfully bet that the Italian would win the Australian Open.
Sinner sweeps and advances to the quarterfinals
Beyond the bets, Sinner is going through a stellar moment. On Monday, he advanced to the quarterfinals after humiliating Kazakh Alexander Bublik with scores of 6-1, 6-1, 6-1 in just one hour and 21 minutes. The 24-year-old Italian will face his compatriot Lorenzo Musetti in the next round, where he is the favorite. Sinner came with an uncomfortable memory: earlier this year, Bublik had upset him at the ATP 500 in Halle, where the Kazakh later went on to win. However, in New York, it was a different story. Eight breaks in eleven return games illustrated the difference in level between the two.
“I broke his serve very early in each set, and that gave me the confidence to serve a little better. I’m very, very happy,” Sinner explained after his nightly victory.
Bublik, who committed 13 double faults and 31 unforced errors, ended by joking with his rival: “You’re so good, this is crazy. I’m not bad!”
The victory marked Sinner’s 25th consecutive victory in hard-court Grand Slam tournaments. In addition to the title at stake, the Italian is also defending his number one ATP ranking against Carlos Alcaraz, who lurks in the rankings.
