Eddie Hearn sees slight advantage for Crawford in fight with Canelo
Eddie Hearn stated that, although Canelo Alvarez is the bookmakers favorite, he would not be surprised if Crawford took the win that night
Matchroom Boxing promoter Eddie Hearn said he sees Terence Crawford having a slight advantage over Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez on September 13 when they fight for the undisputed world super middleweight championship.
In an interview with FightHype, Hearn stated that although Canelo Alvarez is the betting favorite, he wouldn't be surprised if Crawford walked away with the win that night.
"I'm probably leaning a little bit toward Crawford in this one. I think Canelo would be the favorite, but I wouldn't be surprised at all if Crawford could win. I guess the big conversation is how the weight will affect Bud and how he'll respond to size. When he gets hit, that's the million-dollar question," he said.
According to some experts' predictions, Terence Crawford will be at a weight disadvantage and won't be able to defeat the Mexican, but others believe that size won't be an issue, as the American has the necessary skills to beat the 168-pound champion on his own turf.
After the fight with Cuban William Scull, where the Mexican fighter was criticized for his lackluster performance, many Sports experts have changed their minds and see Bud with a real chance of winning because they think the Guadalajara native is in decline.
If the American wins, he would become a three-time undisputed champion in different weight classes and make history in the sport, while Canelo Alvarez could end Crawford's undefeated record and send him into retirement.
Terence Crawford, 38, became a champion in four different weight classes by defeating Israil Madrimov and remains one of the best pound-for-pound fighters. The American two-time undisputed champion now has 41 wins, 31 of them by knockouts.
Meanwhile, Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez, 34, became undisputed champion for the second time at super middleweight after defeating William Scull and now has a record of 63 wins (39 by knockout), two losses, and two draws in his professional career.
