Father of David Benavidez predicts how fight with Yarde will end
Jose Benavidez Sr. commented that there is no possibility that Yarde can defeat the Mexican Monster because he is simply on another level
Jose Benavidez Sr., father and trainer of David Benavidez, predicted that his son could surprise and knock out Anthony Yarde when he puts his World Boxing Council (WBC) light heavyweight title on the line this November 22 in Saudi Arabia Saudi.
In an interview with Boxing Scene, Benavidez Sr. commented that there is no possibility that Yarde can defeat the Mexican Monster because he is simply on another level.
“In boxing there are levels, mate. David is on another level. His intelligence and attitude are different. All my respect to Anthony Yarde, but there is no way Anthony Yarde can beat David Benavidez. It's going to be a tough and exciting fight. There's going to be blood, broken ribs, broken noses, but David is going to come out victorious and there's no room in my mind to even consider the possibility of losing,” he said.
“David gives me the confidence to say that and back up everything I say. He has never been more prepared. He radiates the confidence of a warrior, and don't be surprised if you see a knockout,” he added.
According to expert opinion, the British boxer is one of the most dangerous challengers David Benavidez will face in the 175-pound division due to his great power. Despite this, the Mexican-American remains the favorite to take the victory.
Remember that after Dmitry Bivol decided to vacate his WBC title, the Mexican Monster became the undisputed champion of the division and expressed interest in fighting Callum Smith or Anthony Yarde.
In the end, it was Yarde who secured the challenger position, and this will be his third opportunity to try to become a world champion. The Mexican Monster, on the other hand, will make his first title defense after dominating David Morrell Jr. in his last appearance in the ring this past February.
David Benavidez, 29, won the WBA regular 175-pound belt after defeating David Morrell by decision in his last fight. The Mexican Monster has a record of 30 wins,24 of them by knockout and no losses in his professional career.
For his part, Anthony Yarde, 33, is coming off a victory over Lyndor Arthur last April and could now be crowned WBC light heavyweight champion. The English fighter has 27 wins (24 by knockout) and three losses.
