Hyundai reduced the price of the 2026 IONIQ 5 N by $6,300 and kept its performance, technology and equipment intact
Those who expected the Hyundai IONIQ 5 N to be an easier electric sports car to buy received good news. The South Korean brand decided to adjust the price of the 2026 version in the United States with a reduction of $6,300 dollars, an unusual measure for a vehicle of this level and that could make it much more competitive compared to other high-performance models.

The sporty-focused electric SUV now starts at $59,900, to which is added a destination charge of $1,600. The decision comes at a time when competition between electric vehicle manufacturers continues to grow and more and more brands are seeking to attract buyers with better prices and more equipment.

Far from being a shortened version, Hyundai kept the main qualities of the model intact and even added new features to make it even more attractive.
Hyundai wants to bring the N division closer to more drivers
The reduction is part of Hyundai's strategy to strengthen the presence of its N sports line in the US market. The intention is to expand access to one of today's best-rated high-performance electric vehicles.
As explained by Ricky Lao, director of Product Planning at Hyundai Motor North America, the purpose is to offer this model to a broader audience without giving up its capabilities. The executive stated that the IONIQ 5 N brings together innovation, technology and performance typical of considerably more expensive vehicles.
More connectivity and new equipment
Among the main new features of the 2026 model is the incorporation of the NACS port, the charging standard used by Tesla in North America. Thanks to this change, the IONIQ 5 N will be able to directly use the extensive network of Superchargers available in that market.
Hyundai will also include adapters for CCS connections, a portable charger compatible with Level 1 and Level 2 outlets, as well as new convenience features.
These include a driver attention monitoring system through a camera installed in the cabin, rear windows with automatic opening and closing and the new Performance Blue Pearl exterior color.
An electric sports car designed to excite
Although it shares the E-GMP electric platform with other models of the brand, the IONIQ 5 N was developed with a completely different philosophy. Hyundai drew on experience gained in racing and its Rolling Lab programs to create a performance-focused vehicle.
With the N Grin Boost function activated, the system develops up to 641 horsepower, a figure that allows it to offer accelerations typical of a top-level sports car.
Driving experience was also one of the great objectives of the engineers. That is why the model incorporates the N e-Shift system, a technology that recreates the behavior of an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission through specific management of torque delivery.
Added to this is the N Active Sound system, which generates a sporty sound inside the cabin to make driving more involving and offer auditory references to the driver when the vehicle is demanding in curves or acceleration.
Hyundai developed this technology after thousands of kilometers of tests on the German Nürburgring circuit, seeking to make the driving sensation much closer to that of a traditional sports car, while still taking advantage of the advantages of electric propulsion.
