Mateusz Bogusz remains in Poland, and all signs point to him not staying with Cruz Azul
Polish player Mateusz Bogusz has missed Cruz Azul's preseason training for two days now, fueling rumors that he will leave the team
Six months ago, Mateusz Bogusz seemed to be the reinforcement Cruz Azul was hoping for, especially under Uruguayan coach Vicente Sanchez, but with the arrival of Argentine coach Nicolas Larcamon, things changed, and now the most likely scenario is his departure from Cruz Azul.
Especially after the Polish striker missed his second day of preseason training with the Cementeros, a clear sign of his rejection of the Argentine coach's management, who simply erased him from his tactical scheme with the complacency or suspicious silence of sporting director Ivan Alonso.
For this reason, the fact that he could be found in an Instagram post on Tuesday, December 30, receiving physical therapy at a clinic in his country was quite a surprise, especially since it was expected that he would already be with his teammates at the La Noria training facilities.
In the post, the player appears in a publication from the account Fizjoterapia Rokitnica, a Polish rehabilitation center, where Bogusz can be seen accompanied by clinic staff. The caption states that the player is undergoing mobility and regeneration therapy, which are described as key to performing at the highest athletic level.
“One of the players with the “We have had the pleasure of collaborating with Mateusz Bogusz – a professional footballer for whom efficiency, mobility, and regeneration are of key importance in daily performance at the highest sporting level,” the caption reads.
The silence that characterizes Cruz Azul
Things always seem suspicious and unclear at Cruz Azul. The communications department seems to function only as a security detail for the players, prohibiting them from speaking, as well as for the directors, where, so far, the case of Mateusz Bogusz remains a complete mystery.
To date,Sources close to the board claim that Bogusz does not have special permission from the board and that this is all part of a pressure tactic to force him to transfer to another team. Undoubtedly, the fact that Giorgos Giakoumakis and Bogusz failed to succeed at Cruz Azul only demonstrates that South American coaches don't know how to work with this type of player. The same thing happened six months ago with Vicente Sanchez and now with Nicolas Larcamon, ruining the investments of the Cruz Azul board, which went to waste and now they have to try to offload them.
Bogusz's future is up in the air
So far, the reports of Bogusz's departure from the team seem more than clear, but at Cruz Azul anything can happen and no one can deny that in two or three days this player could return to continue with the team, while making way for Colombian Miguel Borja for the next Clausura 2026 tournament, replacing Angel Sepulveda and partnering with "Toro" Gabriel Fernandez.
