The legendary Skyline prepares its return under another brand
The iconic Skyline is close to returning to North America and will do so with a new strategy, modern technology and Infiniti seal
Few names have as much weight in Nissan's history as Skyline. Now, that name is once again at the center of the conversation after the company confirmed that it is preparing its global launch for this winter, marking the beginning of a new stage for one of its most recognized models.

The confirmation came from Ivan Espinosa, CEO of Nissan, who revealed in an interview with Nikkei Asia that the vehicle will reach the North American market, although it will not do so with the Nissan emblem. The strategy contemplates its commercialization under the Infiniti brand.

The project stands out not only for the return of the Skyline name, but also for the speed with which it was developed. Nissan managed to complete the job in just 26 months, a considerable reduction compared to the 55 months it took for the previous generation.
Much of this progress is attributed to the intensive use of digital tools and artificial intelligence. The company took advantage of these technologies in areas such as design, validation and production processes to accelerate times without compromising the final quality of the product.
Infiniti will be the gateway to the United States
For American buyers, the new Skyline will have a different identity. Everything indicates that it will be integrated into the Infiniti range and some reports even suggest that it could become the successor to the current Q50.
The first information indicates that it would maintain a configuration focused on driving pleasure, with rear-wheel drive as the protagonist. The presence of variants with all-wheel drive is also not ruled out to expand its appeal within the premium segment.
Although Nissan is still silent on the final specifications, several clues point to the well-known twin-turbo V6 engine used by the Nissan Z.
In its most powerful configuration, this engine develops 420 horsepower and 384 lb-ft of torque. If confirmed, the Skyline would have solid arguments to take on some of the most important sports sedans on the market.
The offer could include both options aimed at enthusiasts and versions designed for more comfortable everyday use.
Classic inspiration with a modern look
The design will also seek to connect past and present. Alfonso Albaisa, head of global design at Nissan, announced that the exterior will be “inspired by the past.”
The intention would not be to replicate historical models, but to reinterpret characteristic elements of the Skyline with a contemporary appearance. That mix of heritage and modernity could become one of the model's main attractions.
