NBA postpones two games due to storm
The league has been forced to modify several games this weekend
The intense winter storm affecting large areas of the United States forced the NBA to postpone two games scheduled for Sunday, including the game between the Dallas Mavericks and the Milwaukee Bucks. Severe weather conditions, with heavy snowfall and sub-zero temperatures, prevented teams from traveling normally and ensured the games could proceed. The Mavericks were scheduled to fly from Dallas to Milwaukee in the morning, a typical two-hour trip, to face the Bucks at Fiserv Forum at 6:00 PM local time. However, the heavy snowfall in Texas grounded the team, led by Jason Kidd, making it impossible to adhere to the planned schedule. The league announced that it will inform fans in the coming days of the new date for the game, without yet specifying whether it will be played during the regular season or rescheduled for a later date using available windows in the calendar. Memphis and Denver, another game suspended due to snow. The Milwaukee game was not the only one affected by the storm. Hours earlier, the NBA also decided to postpone the game between the Memphis Grizzlies and the Denver Nuggets, originally scheduled for this Sunday. In Memphis, where Spaniard Santi Aldama plays, the weather was a determining factor. The temperature dropped to -8 degrees Celsius, and heavy snowfall covered much of Tennessee, hindering travel and creating risks for players, staff, and fans alike. As with the Mavericks and Bucks, the NBA announced that it will soon announce the new date for the Grizzlies-Nuggets game. The Arctic storm, which extends from the central to the eastern part of the country, had already caused schedule changes over the weekend. On Saturday,The Charlotte Hornets and the Golden State Warriors moved their game to noon due to a forecast of a snowstorm that threatened to complicate access to the arena and the teams' return. These adjustments reflect the league's priority of ensuring the safety of everyone involved, even if it means altering an already demanding schedule. During the regular season, teams typically have limited leeway to reschedule games, so each postponement presents an additional logistical challenge.
