Former goalkeeper for the Mexican national team at the 2006 World Cup in Germany, Oswaldo Sanchez, expressed his disagreement with the potential call-up of Spaniard Alvaro Fidalgo, as is expected at the beginning of next year, with a possible Participation of the Club America midfielder in the upcoming 2026 World Cup.

Sanchez Ibarra, current commentator for TUDN, emphasized that the Mexican national team doesn't need Alvaro Fidalgo, especially since he believes there are Mexican players of equal or greater quality in that position who can handle the job at the World Cup.

The former Atlas, America, Chivas, and Santos Laguna player cited Edson Alvarez of Fenerbahce in Turkey, Carlos Rodriguez of Cruz Azul, and Luis Chavez of Dynamo Moscow as examples, insisting that there's no point in calling up another player who isn't Mexican by birth to the national team.

“We don't need him. It's true that no player in this league is superfluous, but I do believe that with the Mexicans we have in that position, we can manage. I have a lot of confidence in Edson Alvarez, in those who played ahead of him, in Charly, and in Chavez, since he's recovering,” he emphasized. The former World Cup player was part of Ricardo LaVolpe's team from 2003 to 2006. Oswaldo went further in his remarks: “So, in my understanding, I say, the doors aren't closed.
