Reveal the four options to be the stadium of the Finalissima between Argentina and Spain
El Centenario de Montevideo appears as the main candidate, but there are other alternatives
The Finalissima between Argentina, champion of the 2024 Copa America, and Spain, champion of the Euro 2024, already has possible scenarios defined. The match, scheduled to take place in the March 2026 FIFA window, still has no confirmed venue, but four stadiums are mentioned as alternatives.
According to information published by Spanish media, the options are: Lusail Stadium in Qatar, Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, Wembley Stadium in London, and Estadio Centenario in Montevideo.
Lusail Stadium is remembered by Argentines as the venue where they lifted the 2022 World Cup after beating France in the final. Hard Rock Stadium, meanwhile, hosted the last Copa America, in which La Albiceleste were crowned champions against Colombia. Wembley hosted the first edition of the Finalissima in 2022, where Argentina defeated Italy 3-0.
As for the Centenario, it is the stadium where the 1930 World Cup final was played and where Uruguay were crowned champions by beating Argentina. According to the newspaper As, this option is the most likely because FIFA is looking to commemorate the centenary of the first World Cup at the same venue.
Conditions and background
The Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) is making the agreement conditional on Spain not having to play in the European play-offs to qualify for the 2026 World Cup. If La Roja were to face that stage, the Finalissima would be suspended, as the dates would coincide with the March window.
The organization of the match was discussed during the 75th FIFA Congress in Asuncion, Paraguay, where Gianni Infantino (FIFA) and Aleksander Ceferin (UEFA) urged the AFA and the RFEF to define the date and venue as soon as possible.
The Finalissima is the successor to the Copa Artemio Franchi, a tournament that pitted the champions of Europe and South America against each other. In its first edition under the new format, Argentina beat Italy at Wembley in 2022.
