Luiz Felipe Scolari offered these statements in a conversation with Sergio Goycochea. The Brazilian strategist highlighted the natural talent like footballers like Messi, Maradona or Ronaldinho. Cristiano Ronaldo, in his judgement, formed his talent with discipline. It wasn't something innate.
“Cristiano wasn't born being crack like Messi or Ronaldinho. He left becoming crack. He looked for alternatives. The cases of Messi, Ronaldinho, Rivaldo, Ronaldo, Maradona… They already know d where is going to go the ball. But Cristiano today is what he is and is going to go to a World Cup at 40, 41 years old, due to his insistence, his will and dedication”, declared the Brazilian strategist.
Cristiano Ronaldo had a great connection with Luiz Felipe Scolari. The Brazilian strategist was the one who made CR7 debut in the s election of Portugal. Scolari managed the European team for nearly 5 years and gave the first opportunity to CR7 in August 2003.
Under the technical direction of Luiz Felipe Scolari, Cristiano Ronaldo played 57 games. The Brazilian strategist moved CR7 on the wings, one of the positions that gave him a lot of success in his career. With Scolari in the national team, Ronaldo scored 21 goals.
Thierry Henry asks not to compare them
Amidst the constant comparisons, Thierry Henry has another view on Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi. No, Henry doesn't put someone's talent above another. The former Arsenal striker prefers to enjoy these two legends who are expected to be in the 2026 World Cup.
“That's a mistake. Why do people want to separate them, if they can enjoy everyone? Of course, I played with Lionel, and I prefer him for a sentimental matter, but that's why I'll never go against Cristiano. The two are on the football moon. They are from another planet. They have become better than each other, like Nadal and Federer, Prost-Senna, and others in the history of sports. Cris and Leo are out of the competition,” said Henry in an interview with Marca.
