Goodbye to WhatsApp: These phones will lose the app from March 1st
From March 1st, several older phones will no longer be compatible with WhatsApp due to a lack of updates and security requirements
Starting March 1st, several phone models will no longer be compatible with WhatsApp because they no longer meet the minimum operating system requirements necessary to run the latest versions of the platform.
As is often the case (almost monthly), this decision is part of a routine process implemented by the company, owned by Meta Platforms, to ensure the security of users and improve the overall performance of the application.
Which phones will lose WhatsApp starting March 1st
According to the application's official help center, WhatsApp requires Android 5.0 or later, as well as iOS 15.1 or higher for iPhones. Devices that cannot be updated to these systems will automatically lose service.
These are the affected devices:
Samsung
LG
Sony
Apple
Most of these devices were released more than ten years ago and no longer receive official support or software updates.
The main reason they lose WhatsApp is technical incompatibility.
Outdated operating systems cannot adapt to the new security, performance, and functionality requirements of the application.
If no update is available, the best alternative is to migrate your account to a more modern phone. Before doing so, it is essential to back up your chats, photos, and files. This allows you to transfer all your information to the new device without losing important conversations.
