“He accepted me back”: The Obamas speak for the first time together about the rumors of their divorce
The couple spoke about the separation rumors that have circulated for months
After months of separation rumors, former US President Barack Obama and his wife Michelle spoke together publicly for the first time about the state of their marriage.
And to the delight of Those who admire the couple assured that they have never even thought about separating.
In an episode of the podcast "IMO" by Michelle Obama and her brother Craig Robinson, the former president, 63, and the former first lady, 61, joked about the rumors that started a few months ago.
"She took me back... it was complicated for a while," Barack Obama joked when he was introduced in the episode. "Don't start," Michelle Obama laughed.
But the reality is different, they said.
"Not for a moment"
Michelle Obama had already made statements this year about the rumors about her marriage.
She said it seemed inconceivable to her that she, being an adult woman with independent professional success, could not choose whether to attend public events with her husband or prioritize her own agenda.
"It has to be assumed that my husband and I are getting a divorce," criticized.
The former president had steered clear of the remarks.
But on Obama and Robinson's podcast, the former first lady made it clear that their 32-year marriage remains strong.
"There has not been a single time in our marriage where I've thought about leaving my husband, and we've been through some very difficult times and we've had a lot of fun times, a lot of experiences," she said.
"And I've become a better person because of the man that I'm married to."
Former President Obama was moved by his wife's words: "No, don't make me cry now, right at the beginning of the show,” he told her.
Craig Robinson said he’s been asked about his sister’s relationship. “What did he do to her?” one woman recently asked him. “How did he screw up?”
The former president laughed that people assumed he would be the cause of a rift. “They don’t say, ‘What happened?’ They say, ‘How did he screw up?’”
The couple married in 1992 and have two adult daughters, Sasha and Malia.
