U.S. Northern Command confirmed Tuesday that 150 National Guard troops will be removed from the streets of Los Angeles to join teams fighting wildfires in California.
At the recommendation of General Gregory M. Guillot, Commander, U.S. Northern Command, and with the approval of Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, Task Force 51 released 150 National Guard soldiers from the Federal Protection mission on Tuesday.
“USNORTHCOM and Task Force 51 still have the necessary resources to carry out our Federal Protection Mission,” U.S. Northern Command said in a statement.
