A man was arrested for the alleged murder of his wife in a residential complex in Houston
Ismael Holguin 35, was arrested after a police chase and faces charges of murder and evading arrest
A man was arrested and charged with murder after a deadly shooting early Wednesday morning at an apartment complex southwest of Houston, Texas.
Around 3:15 am, officers with the Houston Police Department (HPD) responded to a report of shots fired at an apartment complex located at 4600 Wild Indigo Street.
Upon arrival, they found a 32-year-old woman unconscious and suffering from gunshot wounds in the parking lot. Despite resuscitation attempts, she was pronounced dead at the scene. Her identity has not yet been released pending notification of next of kin, according to Telemundo.
Suspect: Victim husband
The preliminary investigation revealed that the main suspect was the woman's husband, identified as 35-year-old Ismael Holguín. According to HPD, Holguín fled in his vehicle after the shooting, prompting an operation to locate him.
Minutes later, officers located his car in the 15000 block of Tinker Street. When they tried to stop him, the man fled, initiating a chase that ended with his arrest. Holguín was booked into Harris County Jail and faces charges of murder and evading arrest in the 248th State District Court. Authorities have not yet revealed a possible motive for the crime. HPD reported that the case is still under investigation and that they are collecting testimonies and reviewing security footage from the residential complex to reconstruct the exact sequence of events. Although police have not yet confirmed that this was a domestic violence incident in this case, local organizations point out that this type of assault continues to be one of the leading causes of homicide between couples in Texas. According to data from the Texas Council on Family Violence, in 2023 more than 200 women were murdered by their partners or ex-partners in the state.
