US President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden hosted Diwali celebrations at the White House. US President Joe Biden, First Lady Jill Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris met with Indian Americans and greeted them on the festival during Diwali celebrations at the White House.

During the Diwali program at the White House, US President Joe Biden said that before I go (by ending his term), we will ban assault weapons. We did it before, we will do it again. Violent extremism is a threat. There can be no safe haven for hatred in this country. He said that Diwali reminds us that each one of us has the power to bring light to the world. It is a choice and we choose it every day, whether here in America or in India which is celebrating 75 years of independence.

Further US President Joe Biden said that we are honored to host you. This is the first Diwali celebration of its kind to be held at the White House. We have more Asian-Americans than ever before in history. We thank you for making Diwali a part of American culture. At the same time, US Vice President Kamala Harris said on the occasion that like many cultures, Diwali reminds us to see the light in the world in each other and in ourselves. It also reminds us that we should fight for peace, justice, no matter what force continues to spread hatred and division.
