ICE detains a young Hispanic with a disability in a school in Los Angeles
ICE agents pulled the disabled student out of a car and handcuffed him outside Arleta High School; the young man was released due to mistaken identity
A 15-year-old Hispanic student was arrested by federal immigration agents outside a school, according to officials from the Los Angeles Unified School District. Los Angeles (LAUSD).
The incident occurred at approximately 9:30 a.m. Monday, when the 15-year-old student with a disability was removed from a car, handcuffed, and briefly detained outside of Arleta High School, an incident described by LAUSD as a case of mistaken identity.
Following this incident, school leaders called for limits on immigration enforcement in areas near schools just days before the start of the 2025-2026 school year, which begins this Thursday, August 14.
