Florida Governor Ron DeSantis' statement has come amid the war between
Israel and Hamas. He said that America should not accept Palestinian refugees fleeing
Gaza. His comments come as
Israel is expected to launch a ground operation against northern
Gaza, which is under the control of Hamas.
Palestinian civilians were given just over 24 hours by the
Israeli army to leave the area. "I don't know what President Biden is going to do, but we cannot accept people from
Gaza into this country as refugees," GOP presidential candidate DeSantis said during a campaign stop in Iowa, according to the report.
In response to the Hamas massacre,
Israel has said it will not allow supplies, including food and electricity, into the area until the detainees are released. DeSantis further said on the
Israel-Hamas war that if you look, not all of them are Hamas, but they are all anti-Semites and none of them believe in
Israel's right to exist.
Florida's governor signed an order Thursday last week allowing
Israelis to rescue Floridians and support continued operations to combat Hamas.
War affected civilians will get help
US President Joe Biden spoke with Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas on Sunday and expressed his support for providing humanitarian supplies to civilians affected by the
Israel-Hamas war in
Gaza.
President Biden said through X that I spoke to President Abbas of the Palestinian Authority to condemn the Hamas attack on
Israel. I reiterated that Hamas does not stand for the dignity and right of the Palestinian people to self-determination.
I assured them that we are working with partners in the region to ensure humanitarian supplies reach civilians in
Gaza and to prevent an escalation of the conflict. Biden said civilians in Palestine were suffering unnecessarily, claiming most of them had nothing to do with the terrorist group Hamas.
America will continue to support Israel
The White House separately posted the
US President's response to the
terrorist attacks in
Israel with the caption, 'America will continue to support
Israel'. The post further said that the
US will continue to support
Israel in the war against Hamas and is in constant contact with Prime Minister
Benjamin Netanyahu.
He further said, 'Information is being provided about the family members of Americans who are still unaccounted for, as we are making every possible effort to locate their loved ones and bring them home. The Prime Minister is in regular contact with Netanyahu to support
Israel in its time of need as it defends itself against terrorism.
