Israel killed at least 17 Palestinians, including children, during the early hours of Sunday in new airstrikes launched across the Gaza Strip, reported the Palestinian news agency, Wafa, citing medical sources and eyewitnesses. Israeli forces said they targeted terrorists.

The deadliest attack took place in the Sheikh Radwan neighborhood, north of Gaza City, where an airstrike hit a family home housing displaced people. The airstrike killed around 10 civilians and injured several others, according to Wafa. Also in Gaza City, Israeli jets bombed another home in the al-Tuffah neighborhood, east of the city, killing at least four people.

In Khan Yunis, in the southern Gaza Strip, Israeli drones attacked a tent housing displaced people east of the Shafi camp, killing five Palestinians, including four children. The dead were identified as Yazan, 12; Amjad, 10; Muhannad, 7, and Muhammad Fahd Abu Al Khair, 6, according to Wafa information.

“Terrorist targets”

The Israeli army, for its part, said in a statement released to the media that during the last day it attacked about “130 terrorist targets throughout the Strip, including command and control structures, storage facilities, weapons, terrorists and launchers,” without providing evidence beyond attaching a photograph of the located weapons.

Since the start of the Israeli offensive that began in October 2023, after an unprecedented attack by Hamas (a group considered a terrorist by the EU) against Israeli territory, more than 57,300 Gazans have died and more than 132,000 have been injured by Israeli attacks, according to the Gaza Ministry of Health. The United Nations believes the figures provided by the Gaza Strip authorities are reliable.
