Texas, the favorite state ICE: where the most immigrants were detained in 2025
According to data starting from January 20, 2025, the date Trump took office, Texas is the state with the most ICE arrests
Since President Donald Trump began his second term at the White House on January 20, his immigration policies have led to tens of thousands of arrests against undocumented immigrants or those with irregular residence status. According to a study, Texas is the state with the most arrests in 2025.
The investigation with precise figures, presented by The New York Times, shows that the Immigration and Customs Enforcement Service (ICE) has detained around 20,000 people in Texas, which is reflected in 142 arrests per day.
This in turn implies a 92% increase in arrests in Texas, compared to 2024. The graph also shows that January, May and June have been the toughest months for immigrants.
Florida, Georgia and New York follow Texas in the number of ICE arrests
Although the figures are much lower than in Texas, the number of arrests that ICE has executed in Florida during 2025 is still surprising: 11,000 arrests since January 20. This is equivalent to 64 per day and an increase of 219% compared to 2024.
In Georgia, the number drops to 20 arrests per day (267% more), while in New York there are more daily arrests (70), but the percentage increase is 79% compared to 2024.
The New York Times graph also shows that ICE arrests have become more recurrent since May, especially after Stephen Miller, deputy chief of staff for policy at the White House, established that the federal agency had to comply with the 3,000 daily arrests of undocumented people.
Two minors who charged $6,000 to bring migrants into the US were arrested in Texas.
Two minors, of Mexican nationality, were arrested by authorities of the Texas Department of Public Safety, accused of human trafficking after illegally bringing five migrants across the Rio Great.
The teenagers charged 6,$1,000 to each person to bring them into the United States illegally. During the operation, carried out in the Mission border area, they were intercepted by Border Patrol.
The five migrants were wearing identification bracelets allegedly issued by a cartel, which would indicate that they had paid for their transfer to the United States, a modus operandi that reflects the growing involvement of criminal networks in irregular migration.
