A Hispanic firefighter paramedic from the Los Angeles County Fire Department (LACOFD) died on active duty this Friday, county officials reported Saturday.
Authorities identified the deceased firefighter paramedic as Jerry W. Guzman, who had his last emergency call on Friday. The cause of death was not immediately released.
"It is with great sadness that the #LACOFD shares the on-duty death of Firefighter Paramedic (FFPM) Jerry W. Guzman on Friday, August 15, 2025," the county fire department reported.
