Candy Warehouse files for bankruptcy a few days before Halloween
Candy Warehouse President Mimi Kwan stated that this is a reorganization and not a liquidation
The bulk candy company and distributor, Candy Warehouse, has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection just days before Halloween, with the purpose of "ensuring we can continue serving our customers and partners for a long time," according to part of the statement.
Regarding this, Mimi Kwan, President of Candy Warehouse, stated “It's important to emphasize that this is a reorganization, not a liquidation,” she said, while ensuring that the company will remain open and continue to fulfill orders. The decision to close was made to stabilize the company's operations and pay off some debts. "It has been a challenge to keep up in the current market; the pandemic hit us hard, and we haven't fully recovered yet due to rising costs and constant inflation," Kwan stated. The president of Candy Warehouse emphasized that competing with large companies like Amazon and Walmart is never easy, but "we have been fortunate to have loyal customers who believe in buying from small businesses and supporting independent companies. Their support has given us the strength to keep going," she said. Candy Warehouse, founded in 1998 and headquartered in Texas, serves large companies and distributes to retail chains, among others, and therefore expects to fulfill its commitments for Halloween.
