Celebrating Mexican Independence Day in Los Angeles!
Los Angeles is hosting free events to celebrate Mexican Independence Day this weekend; events can be reached by Metro transit
This weekend is a holiday for the Mexican community in California with the celebration of “El Grito” for Independence Day on September 16.
In Los Angeles, free events are being held for the Latino community to attend on one of the days most important of the year: the celebration of the 215th anniversary of the independence struggle.
The tradition dates back to the early morning of September 16, 1810, the date on which Father Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla rang the bells of the Dolores Hidalgo church in Guanajuato, calling the people to rise up in arms against Spanish rule.
