Demonstration in Los Angeles calls for a ceasefire and Trump's threats
Criticizes the mental instability of the president and his government entourage; congressmen call for the application of the 25th Amendment
President Donald Trump's two-week postponement of his ultimatum to Iran and announcement of a ceasefire "does not change his threats at all," said members of the Revcom group for the Emancipation of Humanity who protested in the Little Tokyo area, an hour before the deadline he imposed for the death “of an entire civilization.”
Trump accepted, at the last minute, Pakistan's proposal—Pakistan being a mediator in the war against Iran—and a ceasefire, conditioned on the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz.
“The fascist, genocidal lunatic continues to threaten not only Iran, but all of humanity, wanting to bring it to the brink of extinction,” declared Michelle Xai, a member of the group. “We will not accept this in the name of humanity, so we demand that the US and Israel stop their war against Iran.” Xai and all the protesters agreed that humanity had never been so close to the midnight nuclear clock, following Trump's apocalyptic declarations of war against the Islamic Republic of Iran “Bombing hospitals! Bombing schools! Killing children! Danger to all humanity! Bombing Lebanon! Bombing water reservoirs!” the protesters shouted, responding to each phrase with “Stop the war crimes!” as a consequence of the US military escalation in the Middle East. On Monday, Trump did more than defend his threat to attack Iran's civilian infrastructure if the country did not comply with his demand to reopen the Strait of Hormuz by 8:00 pm on Tuesday and warned that all of Iran would be targeted. “could be annihilated” in a single night.
The Strait of Hormuz is one of the most strategic waterways on the planet. Iran has been using control of this strait as leverage in negotiations to end the war that Trump started without congressional authorization.
Humanity in times of survival
“They say that in a war foretold there are no deaths, but in this one there would be many,”Because if the threat made by the President of the United States against that nation and the ancient Persian culture were to be carried out,it would truly unleash a world war with catastrophic consequences for the survival of all humanity," analyzed Salvador Sanabria, president of the organization El Rescate. Sanabria indicated that the mere possibility of launching a nuclear bomb against a country in an area that is already a tinderbox would only lead to confrontation between nations in the Middle East, where only Israel and the United States have submarines carrying nuclear weapons. "All of humanity remains at risk in terms of its survival on this planet," said Sanabria, recalling that the United States dropped atomic bombs toward the end of World War II on the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, where an average of 210,000 people died from burns and radiation. From the Metro station at the intersection of Central and First Streets in Los Angeles, the RevCom They marched for several blocks in Little Tokyo in an emergency protest on the day of Trump's "criminal war crimes ultimatum." the crosshairs of Trump's fascist and genocidal threats." Some passersby joined the protest march. "Trump, the fascist leader of the United States, is openly boasting about his plans to escalate horrific war crimes against the 93 million people of Iran," declared Michelle it—'back to the Stone Age, which is where they belong.'" Trump had declared of Iran: “The entire country could be annihilated in a single night. And that night could be tomorrow [Tuesday night].” This threat has already been deemed a war crime. “Trump's announcement doesn't change the fact that Donald Trump is a fascist,” said Federico Andres, a member of the Revolutionary Committee for the Emancipation of Humanity. “He is threatening to wipe an entire country off the map, possibly with nuclear weapons, so it is even more dangerous.” Andres pointed out that, despite the two-week extension for Iran to open the Strait of Hormuz, that nation would not be in a position to negotiate an end to the war when there are threats of a possible invasion or total destruction. "We have to understand the nature of Donald Trump. He is an imperialist fascist, and this is what guys like him do," the protester said. “Trump is bent on dominating that strategic area, for the oil and resources, for the United States and Israel's empire.” “This president is unh2.” Miguel Tinker Salas, professor emeritus of history and Chicano/Latino studies at Pomona College, mentioned that Trump has already committed war crimes by attacking Iranian targets of no military significance, such as water and power plants, and universities. “He has done it at the same level as Israel, when it attacked universities in Gaza, and even a synagogue,” he added. "They killed 170 children in a school and they say the intelligence was wrong, but who is responsible? So far, no one has taken responsibility for these crimes against humanity."
Referring to Trump's words that an entire civilization would die on Tuesday night, “that means the death of civilians; he's talking about a massacre, and perhaps it implies the use of an atomic bomb.”
Tinker Salas considered that “this president is out of touch with what responsibility entails beyond a president, but also the people who allow it or who facilitate and help him in these pronouncements, without saying anything. And, by saying nothing, silence implies guilt.”
The professor also criticized the lack of leadership from Democrats in Congress to stop Trump, and argued that the president doesn't have a clear plan for Iran, only a war strategy that benefits Israel and Saudi Arabia. He also highlighted the corruption and the economic benefits some have gained from the war. “The Democrats have been conspicuously absent as a minority party,” he stated. "They think Trump's mounting crimes will convince the electorate to vote for them [in the midterm elections]. They have lacked leadership, courage, maturity, and decisiveness."
They want to invoke the 25th Amendment
However, Democratic Congressman Ro Khanna of California declared that, "if Congress has any life left, every member of Congress and every senator must demand Trump's removal today based on the 25th Amendment." total destruction of a civilization. He is calling Iranians animals. He is showing absolute contempt for the humanity of the people in Iran, in Gaza, and in Cuba. This is a moral crime. We must demand that Congress agrees today, and we must invoke the 25th Amendment. AMENDMENT!!!”, “Not a single bomb has fallen on the United States. We cannot annihilate an entire civilization. This is evil and madness.” he added. “They killed 170 children in a school and they say the intelligence was wrong, but who is responsible? So far, no one has taken responsibility for these crimes against humanity.”
