Director of Miss Universe Mexico denies arrest in Thailand: 'Don't pay attention'
Jorge Figueroa dismissed the claims of the former pageant director, Martha Cristiana, regarding his alleged arrest in Thailand
The Mexican delegation to the Miss Universe pageant has been embroiled in scandal once again due to the alleged arrest of its director, Jorge Figueroa, who categorically denied these rumors and dismissed the version disseminated by Martha Cristiana, the pageant's former director.
In a series of videos shared on his social media accounts, the current director of the Mexican organization dismissed the news that has been circulating around the world. How so? Appearing outside an iconic site in Bangkok, Thailand, where teams from all participating countries are gathered for this edition of the beauty pageant. Alongside the images, the executive shared a strong message in which he declared that while his priority is to stay out of controversies and focus on making his candidate, Fatima Bosch, shine, on this occasion he decided to put an end to the speculation. “I'm not so active on social media anymore, you can see that on my social media. All the focus is on our queens, in this case, the most beautiful flower in the universe, my dearest Fatima Bosch. But well, due to some statements and some news that are fake news, I wanted to come and make a video,” he declared to the cameras. Without directly naming anyone, but hinting at who his message was directed at, Jorge Figueroa asserted that the rumors of his arrest arose as a result of a smear campaign.
“Don’t pay attention or listen, don’t focus on or interview people who didn’t manage to make the competition in its first generation, nor did they manage to make it through the VIP casting, that wonderful VIP casting where our beloved Fernanda Beltran and so much other talent emerged, talents who today have all my affection and respect. Much less Fatima Bosch. The focus shouldn’t be on someone who, having failed to achieve their goal, came forward to speak out,” she explained in the video.
To conclude,The director of Miss Universe Mexico reiterated his commitment to the organization and congratulated Fatima Bosch for her work during her participation in this edition of the beauty pageant. “I’m here today, I don’t know about tomorrow. This is a job I embrace, that I fulfill, and with the utmost humility, I try to meet all expectations as an employee… Now I’ll have to upload everything I do,” he stated. Rumors about the alleged arrest of the director and other members of the Mexican delegation suggested that this was the result of a complaint filed by Nawat Itsaragrisil for a supposed connection to an online gaming company, an activity considered illegal in Thailand.
